I work from a person centred approach using Motivational Interviewing Techniques, (MI) Brief Solution Focused Therapy (BSFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT). I also have experience in delivering the Twelve Step Programme. I have a honours degree in Theology which facilitates working from a spiritual approach for those who require this and a Masters in Gender and Sexuality in Culture which has given me a greater understanding of the issues and problems pertaining to gender identity and the anxiety and feelings of marginalisation which accompany this.
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.”
I provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where people can take that first step and explore and identify the issues that keep them trapped within addiction, anxiety or stress.
Areas of Focus include:
- Stress and Panic
- Low Self-Esteem
- Identity crisis.
Consultation Fee: €50 / 1 hour
I am a qualified addiction counsellor with extensive experience working within community drug and alcohol services. I am a Pre-Accredited member of the Addiction Counsellors of Ireland. (ACI). I have worked with front line addiction and homeless services such as Merchant’s Quay Ireland and Midlands Simon Community. My passion is to use this experience along with my therapeutic training to deliver a service based on individual needs. Addiction begins with the person and it is my belief that placing the person at the centre of the counselling process facilitates a therapeutic environment that is more conducive to recovery and management of addiction issues.
As well as my experience in Addiction I also work with issues of Personal Development including Low Self Esteem, Anxiety, Stress and Panic management, Confidence Building and Anger Management. My primary aim as a counsellor is to see the potential in each person I meet with and use my experience and training in facilitating hope for change within them.
