Martina Breen Dip. IGC M.A.
Martina trained as a Gestalt Therapist and works with couples, adults and adolescents.
She has an expansive training background including, working with children through art, relationship therapy and Choice Theory. Martina is an experienced facilitator and has worked in community development in Ireland for over 15 years. She completed her Masters in 2012; exploring the role of spirituality in the identity formation of young Irish women.
She works from an holistic approach, using an indirect, person centred method, following the client’s lead. The Gestalt approach to counselling is grounded in the here-and-now. This means that what you are experiencing in the present moment, in the therapy room or with your partner, takes precedence over your past experiences. This means that the therapy process is alive and present-centred.
The foundations of Gestalt therapy are based on awareness. Working with clients is based on supporting them in raising their awareness about how they are living their lives. In being more aware, Gestalt therapy can then help you make more positive choices that will have meaning, are creative and will aid you in creating a life with relationships that are fulfilling.
“Change occurs when one becomes what he is, not when he tries to become what he is not” Arnold Beisser
Martina also facilitates creative development programs such as the widely acclaimed ‘Artist’s Way’, and her own programmes; ‘Writing your Sacred Journey’ and ‘The Way of The Inner Teacher’.
