November Newsletter

October Newsletter
Hello Community,
How are you?
How are you in this moment as you read this?
Whatever you feel, honour it. Recognise, acknowledge and release it. We can get caught up judging ourselves for what we feel…feeling is normal… you are a human being… feeling is being human. Allow yourself just to be.
Drs. Emily and Amelia Nagoski’s new book ‘Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress the Cycle’, in which they speak about our emotional experience as a tunnel: it starts, then you’re in the middle of it, and then it ends. What happens to many of us; we become stuck in the emotional tunnel with no relief. When this happens day after day, burnout is the outcome.
As many here in our community are caregivers, personally and professionally, this message is important.
Set an intention for yourself…what do I want to give myself?…what do I need?… what brings me joy?… five minutes of silence… a walk…to cry…dancing in the kitchen to my favourite song… a bath… connect with a friend… meditation… a good belly laugh.
‘Let the power of intention lead the way’ –  Sharon Salzberg.
Love and light friends,
The Dancing Soul
Drift like a cloud
and flow like water,
seeing that all life is a
magnificent illusion,
a playing of energy,
and that there is absolutely nothing,
fundamentally, to be afraid of.
Fundamentally, you will be afraid on the surface
You will be afraid of putting your hand in the fire
You will be afraid of getting sick, etc.
But you will not be afraid of fear
Fear will pass over your mind like a black cloud
will be reflected in the mirror.
Alan Watts

The Dancing Soul mourns the passing of Michael Fuery

Michael died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on October 28th. Michael was a co-director of The Dancing Soul and even though most people hardly saw him, he was a great support with ideas and handyman services. He was very much our ‘behind the scenes’ main man.
The Dancing Soul team continue to have Julie and her family in our thoughts and prayers.
Death ends a life, not a relationship ― Morrie Schwartz

What can I do to take care of my emotional needs?
How I take care of my physical body?
How can I respond compassionately to my feelings and thoughts?
How do I experience rest? How can I invite in more of this?

Therapist Profile
Mary McLoughlin
My aim is to create a therapeutic, non-judgemental environment where you will feel safe and free to be who you are. I am a holistic therapist and I am interested in working with people who have experienced loss, who are suffering from stress or anxiety, low self-esteem or relationship issues. It takes courage to trust another human being with our issues but when we do, I believe healing takes place.
As Carl Rogers once said “the healing is in the relationship”.

November invitations to support your wellbeing

Awaken Through Writing to Find Clarity, Resilience & Wellbeing: How Anyone Can Use Writing to Clear Inner Obstacles & Live an Authentic Life.

How do you create your future when you’re mired down in anxiety and emotional pain?

Quite simply, you start writing — and you don’t even have to be a good writer.

Through writing, you cultivate clarity, build resilience, and find a sense of wellbeing when you’re willing to peel away the layers to get to your truth.

There is relief in unraveling pain and confusion. Writing clears the mind and opens the heart. Writing down your thoughts yields valuable insights and offers perspective, while fortifying you with courage and strength.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

Mindfulness is a basic human quality, a way of learning to pay attention to whatever is happening in your life that allows you a greater sense of connection to your life inwardly and outwardly.

Some of the clinically proven benefits of MBSR are:

Stress reduction—at work or at home, especially for anxiety over health issues, aging, and uncertainty about the future
Managing symptoms and reducing suffering from medical conditions such as chronic pain, high blood pressure, heart disease, persistent headaches, and more
Enhancing our ability to overcome psychological distress such as panic attacks, depression, fatigue, and insomnia
Support for any preventive care, exercise, diet, and wellness plan.

If you’re thinking of beginning your own adventure in mindfulness, then there’s no better time to begin.

Book Review

The Four Agreements – Don Miguel Ruiz

“This book is an oldie, but a goldie! I return to this book at least once a year, especially when life gets noisy… which is a lot lately. Ruiz is a master of keeping it simple, yet so poignant. He strips it back to the core of what is truly important. It is always a humorous moment when I return to his words, laughing at how unnecessarily complicated I have made thing(again!). But of course I am just human, and lucky for me I can keep returning to The Four Agreements.”

– Olivia Feehan, Dancing Soul Counsellor an Psychotherapist.
