Grief & Loss
Grief is a natural response to loss. It’s the emotional suffering you feel when something or someone you love is taken away. Significant and even subtle losses in life can trigger a sense of grief. Many people have trouble sleeping, eating, or even thinking straight. There can be all kinds of difficult and unexpected emotions, from shock or anger to disbelief, guilt, and profound sadness. This process of grieving and adapting to a loss can vary from one person to another. Whatever your loss, it’s personal to you – no loss is too big or small to deserve validation and support.
Therapy offers an opportunity to explore your emotions and experiences of loss while also learning from them. You will be met in a safe and non-judgmental space of mutual respect. You do not have to endure your grief alone.
Anxiety can be described as a feeling of unease such as worry or fear. Everyone experiences feelings of anxiety in their life from time to time. This is normal and is the bodies way of alerting us to stressful situations. However, when our anxiety or worry becomes a constant force in our lives it hinders us in carrying out everyday tasks. In my practice I regularly meet clients who are experiencing feelings of being overwhelmed, panicked, lack of concentration with racing thoughts and chronic self -doubt. If you have been experiencing these feelings therapy can help in looking beyond the symptoms and understanding what the underlying causes may be.
Together in the therapeutic setting we can look at new ways of developing coping skills, lowering your anxiety levels and overcoming your fears.
While we can all feel sad, have a low mood and a lack of motivation from time to time – others experience this for extended periods. For some there can be an identifiable reason but for others the underlying reason is not so clear. Feelings of being overwhelmed, exhausted and a general lack of interest in the activities that you once loved are all very common. The stressors in today’s environment can bombard us with the thoughts that everyone has it figured out and that we are not smart enough/ good enough/ …. enough. You may be finding it difficult to move forward.
In a respectful and non-judgmental therapeutic space, we can work together to develop self-compassion and self-acceptance. We can seek clarity around what it is that you want in life – encompassing growth for a more fulfilling connection to yourself and others.
I am a qualified and experienced Holistic and Integrative psychotherapist and counsellor. My training draws on several theories and models of therapeutic work. This enables me to work in a way that is responsive to the uniqueness of the individual rather than trying to make the individual fit any single therapeutic approach. It is my hope that our work together will be full of compassion, empathy, and trust. I want to support clients to develop more self-compassion and self-acceptance, to form more healthy thought and behaviour patterns that assists healing and growth. Above all to find more meaning in life, to feel more joy and wholeness as an individual. I am passionate about supporting you to develop and uncover your strengths and inner resources that we all possess to bring about the change that is desired in your life.
