Holistic and Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist.
Themes I frequently work with: Anxiety, self-esteem/self-worth and grief.
Through holistic and integrative approaches, I will support you in creating more compassion for yourself, understanding the stressors and challenges in your life and making more space for joy and presence.
Anxiety is a normal response to a stressful situation and can be useful to motivate us to deal with upcoming situations. However, anxiety can be problematic when it consumes normal day to day life. Anxiety is the body’s way of letting you know something is off, however if you don’t understand or learn how to manage it, it can become completely overwhelming.
Often feeling this way can make you feel isolated, but you are not alone. In a safe environment we will work together to explore your anxiety, gain understanding of what stresses and soothes it and provide space for you to grow in the direction you want.
Self-Esteem / Self-Worth
Self-esteem has many definitions, but all address aspects of how we view and value ourselves. Low self-esteem has a profound impact on the choices you make since it determines, to a great extent, what you consider yourself capable and worthy of doing, e.g. not pursue work or college ambitions, accept poor treatment from family, friends and partners, body image and negative thought patterns.
In the therapeutic environment we can explore your low self-esteem, and facilitate a space for you to build a sense of self and reclaim your worth. Healthy self-esteem allows you to create more space for presence and focus attention on what truly brings you joy.
Grief and Loss
Grief is a multi-layered response to loss, to which a bond or affection was formed. Grieving the loss of a loved one, whether the loss is due to death, a breakup, or other circumstance is an individual and unique process. Grief can come with the loss of a job, college or friendship. One of the hardest challenges can be adjusting to your new reality. This is a normal part of the grieving process. Self-compassion and patience are essential in this work, as a loss is not only an emotional response, it also has physical, cognitive, behavioural, social, cultural, spiritual and philosophical dimensions.
At your pace, we will honour the space for your loss while reawakening the meaning in your life now.
I practice as a holistic and integrative therapist. This simply means I believe the mind-body-spirit connection is fundamental in understanding yourself as a whole person. I draw from several theories of practice, as what suits one person won’t suit another. However, at the core of them all is the importance of the therapeutic relationship; connection, a safe space and supporting you to feel seen and heard.
You will be met with empathy, compassion and conscious intentions from me. Every human being is on their path and has an unique way of working. The therapeutic environment is a space for curiosity, healing and growth.
