Stress & Anxiety

We all have times in our lives when we find ourselves feeling stressed, anxious and overwhelmed. Usually there is a reason, a crisis, or a difficult situation that then passes. However, if we find we are living in a constant state of stress and unable to relax, we may also find that our thoughts, feelings and behaviours are impacting negatively on our relationships and our ability to live a fulfilled life.

Working with Petrina in a confidential and safe space can allow you to better understand yourself, how these issues are affecting you and how you might work through them.

Low Self Esteem

Self-esteem refers to the way we feel about ourselves. If you have low self-esteem, you will likely feel bad about yourself, lack confidence, and perhaps feel unlovable, inadequate, incompetent and unimportant.  You may have a very negative voice in your head that holds you back, and affects the choices you make.  Low self-esteem is a state of mind, and it can be changed. Petrina will work with you to explore how these negative self-judgements develop, and how they might be challenged.

Everyone is unique. Everyone experiences life in their own individual way. Petrina’s approach to therapy is to respect that uniqueness, and to work with each person in a way that suits their individual needs.

Relationship Issues

The relationships we have, with partners, friends, family and colleagues, can have a significant impact on our sense of self, and on our health and wellbeing. Relationships can provide us with love, affection, support, joy and hope. But equally, our closest relationships can often be the source of much pain, rejection, fear, sadness and despair. This is true of the relationships we have with others and also the relationship we have with ourselves.

Through therapy, Petrina offers a trusting relationship in which clients can examine the other relationships in their lives. It is through this exploration and “meaning making” (of why we are the way we are, and react to things the way we do) that change can be affected.

Petrina also has experience in working with loss, depression, abuse, trauma, sexuality, emotional crisi and personal growth. You can talk to Petrina about any issue that is important to you.
