Eating Disorders

Do you spend a lot of time trying to “control” your food, weight, body image and yet it feels like “it” is controlling you?  Having recovered from an Eating Disorder, I know how difficult it can be to “just eat”, or on the other hand “not to just eat”! It can feel impossible and certainly no win either way!

Whether you restrict what you eat, emotionally eat, binge eat, purge, use laxatives, over exercise, these are symptoms of an unhealthy relationship with food and body image. This can leave you feeling overwhelmed, ashamed, useless, guilty, depressed and anxious…to name but a few!

I can help you build a healthy relationship with food and body image and rebuild your self esteem and feelings of self worth.  My expertise, training and experiences can help you do just that.  If I can recover, so can you.

Anxiety

Do you feel overwhelmed, panicky or constantly under pressure for no apparent reason?  Are you self critical or over think things before taking action?  Or perhaps chase perfection, anything less feels like failure?  Not only does anxiety present psychological symptoms, it can also cause distressing physical symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, palpitations, sweaty palms sometimes leading to panic attacks.  Is it any wonder we look for coping mechanism to distract from these distressing symptoms?

If you feel overwhelmed by anxiety and it is preventing you from doing the things you want to in life, I can work with you to overcome this and help you make the changes you want to in life.

Depression

When the fog of depression descends on you – it can leave you unable to see the positives in life.  Everyday tasks can drain you of energy, or feel impossible to complete.  This can leave you feeling overwhelmed, exhausted with fatigue and a sense of “just wanting to sleep the whole time”. It’s not a matter of just “pulling yourself together” or “snapping out of it”. It may feel hopeless BUT it’s not, and I can provide the help and support you need to get you back on track.

The simple act of talking about your depression can ease the emotional pain. Together, we can work through the issues and from there, create solutions. In addition to that, by  using CBT techniques (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) we can challenge the negative thoughts and emotions that fuel depression and help you on the road to recovery.
